Class FAQ
Attire
There is no required uniform or costume for our classes. The most important thing is to wear something comfortable and easy to move in. Slightly form-fitting clothes are best so that the instructor can more easily see your movements. Most people wear some sort of exercise pants and a tank top or t-shirt. There is no need to show your belly if you don't want to! Bare feet are best, but you can also wear ballet slippers or other soft dance shoe. No street shoes are allowed in the studio.
LEVELS
We know that not everyone is at the same skill level, so at Unveiled you have the option of being in a class designed for your ability.
Belly dance - Level 1/Beginner
This class covers basic belly dance techniques, and an introduction to Middle Eastern rhythms, music, and dance history. This class must be taken prior to any other classes, unless approved by the instructor. A typical student will spend 1-3 sessions in the beginner class.
Belly dance - Level 2/Intermediate
This class includes technique and choreography. Props may also be included. While some students students will spend 2-4 sessions at this level, 6-8 sessions is more typical. Performance opportunities may also be available.
How do I know which class is right for me?
We feel that everyone should start with level 1. Even if you have experience at another studio, or with another dance style, it is usually helpful to join the level 1 class first. Different studios teach different techniques, and this will give you a chance to get used to things in a relaxed setting.
But I reeeeeeaaaally think I should be in a level 2 class?
If you feel strongly about this, go ahead and contact us at unveiled.company@gmail.com and we can discuss it.
Do you have any other classes?
We vary the content from session to session for both level 1 and level 2 so it’s rarely the same session twice. If there is something specific you would like to see us do, please contact us at unveiled.company@gmail.com with your requests.
